I recently ran my 2008 Polaris Ranger 500 without oil for about 10 minutes; I was unaware of the problem until the engine noise became very loud and it died. There was probably 30-45 seconds of run time from the time the engine noise level increased until it died. 2016 1000 turns over but wont start. Replaced fuel pump, spark plugs, coils, crank sensor. I'm at a lost. Fuses good, relays good. No sputter while cranking. I was out on the trails. The rear end got about a foot of air, came down, engine power cutting in and out till it finally shut off within 100 feet after landing.2468 Answers. Had to give it a shot of starting fluid to start. Used the ranger several times with no problem starting. Ranger started normal today after sitting for over 24 hours.

Line up the cam gear with the xrank pin pointing toward the top of the cylinder. Then pull rhe 14 mm bolt on the top of the stator housing. You should see a timing mark on the stator. If you dont turn the cam gear one more revolution. If you dont see the timing mark on either position.
