You don't need armor or even a weapon after you get the kris blade and clever rats ring. GAxe with Adjudicator's Shield is probably the most braindead setup you can use in PvE, especially on NG where health regen will easily keep up with the damage you take.I ran a faith build using the Mirdan Hammer and blew through the game. (Dropped by the scale miners, or found in 5-2, the Swamp of Sorrow.) The hammer hits hard and has a stun, the health regen was handy and the miracle Evacuate was so useful I try to get it on other builds.Stat-wise, other than Faith, you want to focus on having just enough strength and dex to wield the weapon you want to use (I like the claymore and mirdan hammer), 15 Intelligence for the MP to cast important miracles, and then put the rest in Vitality and Endurance.
